Technology is always changing and that’s certainly been true in the business analytics world. Our industry has already seen tremendous innovation over the years, but it’s about to take another giant leap forward. Let’s take a quick trip down memory lane to see where analytics came from to get a better understanding of where it’s heading next.
In the first generation of business intelligence, products like Cognos and Crystal Reports opened up the world of charts and reporting to desktops and servers across corporate America. For the first time, companies were able to visualize their structured datasets and gain insights into what was happening within their organization.
Next came a new wave of web-based BI products that didn’t rely on the old client-server model. Companies like Logi Analytics, Jaspersoft and Pentaho led the way, with the bigger client-server names in tow. The web not only made analytics more accessible than client-server model, web-based licensing also made business intelligence more affordable.
In the third generation, analytics moved to the cloud, with hosted and SaaS offerings from vendors like GoodData and Birst, followed by cloud offerings from companies like Tableau, Qlik and SiSense. All of these new cloud products offered companies a simpler, centralized model for their analytics and one that could scale thanks to the power of cloud computing. This generation brought with it some downsides however, mainly that companies needed to turn over their data to a third party. This model was a no-go for many companies that dealt with sensitive data or had strict compliance rules to follow, leaving entire industries stuck with older technologies. Performance was another area where this generation was lacking. Simply hosting your existing BI solutions in the cloud offered far fewer advantages than many had expected.
Today we’re entering a new generation of analytics, one led by Qrvey. We take cloud analytics to its logical conclusion, having built an all-in-one analytics platform that is 100% cloud native. We’re not a SaaS offering, nor simply hosted in the cloud. Instead, Qrvey was built on a modern architecture of microservices, providing the utmost in scalability, flexibility and performance as well as the most economical solution for embedded applications. We fully leverage the billions of dollars that have been invested into the cloud and provide access to all of the latest technologies and services faster than any other vendor. Everything from self-service to augmented analytics and the latest in machine learning are continually being added to the Qrvey platform.
We didn’t stop there however, Qrvey also addresses the data security and compliance problem with a unique deployment model. Qrvey deploys directly into your own cloud account, leaving you in complete control of your data and the infrastructure on which it resides. We’ve also lowered the barriers to getting started with free trials, upfront pricing and a licensing model that works with your business instead of against it.
